Ok, I think after all, these 3 days of constant search and other reviews made me think I will go for Canon. Now the problem is which
one.
I have 4 in mind - T3i, T4i, 60D, and my personal fav 7D, but the price is high.
the thing that differs 60D and 7D is that it was Image stiching, and T3i has HDMI. I am not sure what T4i is more pricer than T3i.
Guys below is the summary of all four cameras.

Also, there are couple of websites that I found these cameras are cheaper than many other places.

I have used all online tools to help me find the best price. There were couple of nice rebate deals in AMazon and Eaby, but they expired on 09/30.

If you are looking for 60D, I would recommend you to buy from frys.com. They dont charge tax if you dont have frys in your state. They are selling 60D along with 18-135mm lens for only $900.

I would rather get 7D, if not than T3i is my next

i know that specs on t4i and 60d are neck to neck and t4i has some cool features 60d doesn't. but if i were to pick between the two, i'd still choose 60d. it's a much better built camera than t4i. if you're trying to save money, buy t2i instead of t3i because they have essentially the same components except for the flip out screen on t3i. and i think there's that 3x digital zoom feature while shooting video in t3i, but at the  cost of quality.
summary: go for 60d (or t4i if you really want all those bells and whistles.)

tara i have read in many places that body of 60D gets easily scratched, and the quality is also vey bad compared to others.

nothing is built to last forever; the body gets scratched if you're careless. i used to have a 60D.. i took it with me on my bike tours, camping, field visits, etc. I didn't have any fancy/protective bag, just a holster that hung on my waist. That camera took the beating quite well. I used it without any problems in freezing temperatures, steaming hot-water springs, minior rains, etc. The base of the body used to come in contact with the zipper for the pocket on the inside of the holster every time i took my camera in/out but i didn't see any scratch or anything like that. You can't always rely on what people say online.

Quality? Are you talking about picture quality? Please refer to professional review sites for that, don't trust what people who bought the camera last week say; they probably don't know how to use the holy machine and instead are blaming it for bad pictures. You know how it is these days, teenage kids (and housewives) dancing around with DSLRs, but don't even know what aperture means. They are the ones who write  bad reviews. A fancy camera is not going to make pictures look good automatically, the person behind it needs to be skilled.
Enough jargon. 60D has excellent image/video quality, just check out the reviewes by professionals. If the new t4i has something radical that makes it's image output wayy better than 60D (also 7D?), i've nothing to say. But I highly doubt that's the case.

7D is obviously better of all, if you've got the money, go get it. if not, 60D is the next good one which is neck to neck with t4i. T3i and T2i are good, but they sound, and feel quite filmsy compared to 60D and don't perform that well.

if you're having hard time deciding, go to your local shop (walmart, target, etc probably carry them), and play with each for a while. get the one that feels good to you. seems like you're getting a DSLR for hobby/fun; any of the above mentioned camera is good for that.

The best DSLR so far thats out is Nikon D600. Far better than the Canons you have mentioned.

stupida: told you it's a good camera. you probably got the 18-135 lens with the camera. get a 50mm f1.8 prime too, cheap lens but produces great images. buy used and save. happy shooting!

aptus: we're talking about cameras with APS-C sensors that are under 1k, not full frame camera that sell for over 2k. if you want fair comparison, compare your 600D with something like Canon's 6D. The best camera out there is the one you have/want.

Personally never a fan of Nikon, but then I asked few of my frds with Nikon  with some level of experience, and they too recommended Canon.

Down the line will get 50mm f1.8 prime as suggested by janta.......and the plan is to get 70-300 mm IS USM later in the future, but the daam thing is expernsive....

houston,,,after comapring T4i and 60 D, there is no way i will get T4i....it just feels right to have 60D..

 I don't think you can buy any good DSLR for below 1K. The above mentioned models such as 7D and others are way above 1K.  What are you going to do with just the body of the camera? Do you not need any lenses? One simple lens with good specs cost over 600 dollars. And whoever says Nikon is not good... do your research. Nikon has most of the best DSLR in the market including wide selections of excellent lenses. Not saying Canon's are bad but you pay more price for less you get. And canon build is not that solid as Nikons.

stupida, i'm just an amateur photographer but slightly moving away from photography because I can't afford two hobbies at the same time. I wish they weren't so expensive. But, you gotta pay to have that good feeling. 70-300 USM is a pretty decent lens, but yeah .. that thing is quite expensive. I wouldn't get it unless I really needed it.

Aptus:
1. Looks like you've been in darkness all life my friend, you definitely can buy decent DSLRs under 1k. Pros use cameras like 60D, 50D, and even T3i in some cases (D90 and similar when it comes to Nikon) as their back-up cameras and they're all under 1k.
2. I don't quite get which "above mentioned models such as 7D" you're talking about. Only 7D is over 1k, but it's not "way" above 1k. If you search well, you'll probably find a deal for around 1.3-1.4k with a decent lens. The only camera that's significantly expensive here is the D600 you recommended.
3. I agree that good lenses cost a fortune, but I think amateurs like us don't really need those super-expensive lenses. And btw, I've found Canon lenses to be cheaper than Nikon lenses.
4. Nobody is saying that Nikon is bad; both Canon and Nikon are great for their purposes. I know you are a Nikon fanboy, and I respect that. But, saying that Nikon has the best DSLRs in market is nothing but ignorant. It's like saying my wife is the best wife in this world.
I personally like Canon and recommend it to others because they are more affordable, the UI is great, they look better (at least to me), and above all - there is the holy CHDK/Magic Lantern that allows you to turn your Canon (pretty much any Canon folks, from a P&S to MK series DSLRs!) into an incredible machine. When I put everything together, I get much more than what I actually pay for. 

Lastly, like i said before, most of the times your pictures depend on how well you shoot, not on the price tag of your camera. You need to get rid of that "expensive means better" mentality or you'll "pay more price for less you get" your whole life.

check it out ... and compare the prices... Nikon D7000 is priced 400 dollars below canon. 

Now that's surprising. D5100 was selling around 700 bucks few months ago and T3i was slightly cheaper than that. D7000 selling for less than 1k is another new thing I'm seeing. It used to be about 100 bucks cheaper than 7D 3-4 months ago, now the price difference is quite large. Looks like Nikon is having hard time competing with Canon and lowered the price  or maybe they're launching new models and wanted to clear the stock. If anyone loves Nikon, this might be the time to grab them.

Its not that Nikon is having hard time competing with Canon....There are lots of Nikon fans out there !

The reason for the price drop is because there's a rumor that new version of those cameras is about to hit the market around Christmas.

So market is expecting (Nikon D5200 (replaces D5100)..

Trust me, Nikon D5100 clearly wins those Canon T2i, T3i and T4i in low light conditions...It has the same sensor as D7000.

I know, all Nikon's tend to have better low-light performance, not just D5100 or D7000.  But how often do you shoot at low lit conditions that need ISO over 1600? Both Canon and Nikon perform similar on that range. Nikons definitely have an edge 1-2 stops above 1600, but you probably won't need that too often.

DSLR-  watch yoru wallet and buy one. You will enjoy it.. You can not keep up with Jones, the technology is chaniging every 6 months, Can you keep up with changes? If not enjoy want you  can do! Am I harsh ? hake not just spitting the ruth.
