I think cities like Houston and Dallas are one of the best cities for any students who want to finish their 2 year college and transfer to universities in TX. They are comparatively cheaper than other major cities. You may or may not have job readily available, so prepare for the worst that is 2-3 months with no job. And once you get a job don't compromise your study over that job for extra hours/money. Finish your two years at community college and quickly transfer to university.Your 1 year postpone to graduation is your loss of $50-60,000 per year (considering you are in engineering/CS).

first things first, get a job at your university and get your SSN. This is important! get any kind of job just so that you can get SSN. you need SSN for many things here in the US like electric service, credit card etc. when you move to houston, SSN will help you setup and get going.

houston is not expensive. share room with roommates and that will save you money. work hard and save a lot of money so that you can go back to university and complete your studies. it will be a good idea to get your degree in technical field/science.engineering area so that you can get jobs once you graduate university.

next time, dont be greedy with words when posting questions. if you want genuine answers, spend some time giving details and ask questions in detail. people here on sajha will help you if you take some time out since we take our time out to read and reply to you!
