totally agree with syd.
In addition, they are the ones who we can identify with easily when we all start from scratch, coz we are basically taking babysteps to merely survive and have a decent living. To call spade a spade, yes they do us a lot of favour but in return we have traditionally been trustworthy workers for them. So it's basically favour done and favour returned.
Yes they are important coz we all know it will be nightmare for us if we don't have even that min. wage job. But that said, they benefit from us too. Goodness everywhere is what I feel.

I wouldn't say they can't but it would be really hard for many .....there is no doubt both the parties gain from each other, the only thing that matters is who gains more...Lets make it easier to think ,would Indian entrepreneurs be able to carry out their business smoothly without nepali workers? why not??No doubt at all.But its not true other way around. For them absence and presence of nepali workers just determines the margin of profit they will be making out of the business(as everbody says they pay less to Nepali),its not sth that the business halts. They can hire any body to work on their stores but a student from Nepal on F-1 visa wont be hired by anyone unless sb shows some grace to pay him in cash or the person himself be ready to accept paycheck forgetting the underlying risk. Can't we call it a favour on our side??So,stop grunting on this issue, focus on ur aim and keep going.....U will reach ur destination after couple of summers!!

Yeah, I agree with elusivecat. We Nepali can definitely survive without Indian's and Pakistani . Of course, it would be hard but where there is a will there is a way. We will find one way or other to work here in United Stated. Actually Indians are the one who are gaining more profit when we work at their places. Some of you might know the answer for this . Some of you might not. When we work in cash, we don't have to pay taxes. SO when we don't pay tax, there is no proof that we work at a place. According to law, Employer has to pay exact same amount of tax to the government as any employee. So when we don't pay tax, There it is.... All tax money goes to their pocket... Isn't that great to Indians... Well, I do agree that Indians and pakitani has made it easier for us to find a job but at a same time they aren't doing us any favor as all the people said before me :)

No doubt they are helping some Nepalese student but the question generalized all nepalese student who are living in US. Just ask yourself does each nepalese student work for pakistani and indian?

This is one of the most stupid questions I have ever seen in sajha.
My answer would be - kick out all those Pakistanis and Indians, and see us thrive.

For many Nepali students and people alike .... Indian, Paki and Bangla, stores and restaurants is like a stepping stone when one doesnt have papers or a better connection to work in a mall or something in a non Desi establishment. For students once they graduate gets their working permit and stuff, apply for work visa through a sponsering comp. For others There was that green card lure. I worked in a greek sandwich store as a student owned by a Punjabi........They treated me like a BROTHER...kind and polite....but paid me very little for long hours.....but I survived. After graduation got my work permit and then got sponsered for the Green card by a company....... I do thank those indians for helping me out when I was desprate for work and money...........but now that I look back.......they paid me $325 a week for working like 80 hrs a week. That is way too low...and those guys took my tip money and had houses and drove fancy cars. There were 5 nepalese students working there and all were paid less but we survived the two yrs of hard labor and less pay. Now some of my friends are working corporate jobs making 6 figures, some opened their own restaurants, and My self I am a small time self employed business man. I still meet those punjabi x bosses but I dont hold any thing on them............they are the same where they were....working the same old life. they are exactly like how they were 8 yrs ago...no progress at all. 8 yrs later.......I am proud that all my friends and my self who worked for those Indians.....live a better life and some of us make way more than those Indians will ever do. SO WE DO HAVE THE LAST LAUGH..

I like the way Maddog thinks...
it is indeed a stepping stone- life is harsh and those are the hardest days we had...
I myself went to OC 2 summers...worked hard..16 hrs days...but hey man, did survive...
it's hard for us...but it does brush us up pretty well and prepares us to appreciate the real world
one thing we should keep in mind though: is to be able to get out of that struggle ASAP....jo fasha so fasha....and it's hard to come out of that...so fellas try to graduate and move on
Rock On!
