If any business organization denies employment to Baburam's to-be "academic certificate holders", this is how it will be treated with. One can clearly imagine how organizations are being forced to employ these skillless political cadres in our 'new nepal'.

Where violence is honored, what else to expect?
Political bosses are busy changing name of the places. They roar everytime when they play with whiskers of a dead tiger, but when it comes to deal with major issues such as socio-economic growth, federal structures, serving national interests these roaring bosses either retreat to party rhetorics or stay quiet as if the issues will resolve on their own.
If anything happens to these arsonists, they will be declared "sahid" and there goes one million rupees .... lutya dhan fupuko sarad...
What happened to Bibidh? Ram Hari episode is closed or what?
Naya Nepal...sure it is.

The worst is yet to come. This is what Nepali people or the so-called wise Kathmanduites wanted, otherwise they would have never voted for the terrorist maoist.
Himal media also had played roll in diapering maoists at times. They are paying for it.

It is definitely a sad act. Moreover, such incidents has happened before, also to Kantipur publications and to CEO himself and nobody gets punished because the vandalizers are always members of a group or an organization. Like someone said, it is a part of being in a democratic country. For some reasons I don't understand why Nepalese are hell bent on giving continuity to this stupid democracy, an utterly useless system for country like Nepal.

Thanks, Rahulvai, and others for your comments.
Here's more:
On another note,
1. There is NO radical (i.e. kranti-kaari) Trade Union at Himalmedia at the moment. [All other major media houses do.]
2. That's because more than 85 per cent of Himalmedia staff members decided to NOT join the ranks of the radical (i.e. Kranti-kaari) Trade
Union. There is a Trade Union at Himalmedia, but it's NOT affiliated to
any political party of any sort. It's a swa-tantra one.
[Aside: To form a legally recognized Trade Union at any private company employing 10 or more staff in Nepal, you have to collect at least 25 per
cent of the staff's written support.]
3. This fact number 2 above led to the abortion of Kranti-kaari Trade Union
at Himalmedia. Such a Union just could NOT be formed. That is, no support from staff meant no formation of the Kraantikaari Trade Union.
4. The management (i.e. that's me, the CEO!) then let go of the two krantikaari staff members on grounds of provably true disciplinary breach
by observing all relevant laws and rules of Nepal (over a period of four months).
5. My speculation: The facts 2, 3 and 4 above have angered the hell out of the larger Krantikaari Union people out there in Nepal, including their political masters, who just could NOT believe how their Krantikaari brothers at Himalmedia were
outsmarted,
outvoted,
outmanoeuvered, and
ultimately kicked out -- legally, tactically and strategically -- by Himalmedia's management and staff.
6. Hence, their resorting to activities of crime, intimidation, and harassment.
7. I don't think that this whole saga is over yet . . . we all have to be extra vigilant and careful in days ahead.
8. That said, such, such are the highs and the lows of running a mid-sized private-sector company in Nepal these days.

9. The Krantikaris are already putting political pressure on the Ministry of Communication and the Ministry of Labour (both Ministies have Maoist Ministers) to something extra-legal by force (i.e. aa-desh) against Himalmedia. If anything, I expect the road ahead to be bumpier.

I liked Himal Media. Himal Media was a good newspaper. I am surprised about what happened to them. Himal media was giving quality news and analysis although they have been accused of being funded by Indian Embassy and people driven with propoganda. I have always liked the news and analysis except the recent article (HEADLINE) published by them recently. It was written by an employee at Indian Embassy, blamed NEPAL GOVT for all the fake 500 IC notes published in Nepal and then smuggled to India. The article said some high level politician were involved in that scam. and It was a FRONTPAGE COVER STORY. Indian media have time again blamed or framed innocent people in the past. For eg. Binny Sharma a Star TV reporter blamed one Nepali businessmen that he had a hand in that plane hijaking and was one of those terrorist, although he was not. The aforementioned article said that people put those fake IC currency on grocery bags, rice bags and transport across the border. Himal Media blaming government and staining whole of the country like that. Cmon, I like CK Lal's story and all the coverage and analysis of Tarai issue of Nepal which has made the country more inclusive and harmonious. but they should be more responsible to the country they live in right. IWhatever happened is though not good, I feel government should bring those perpetrators to book and let people express thier views and opinions freely.

Desert Rain,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Let me just say that I run the company in a pretty straightforward manner.
The tone of the company is sincere and candid, and the style of the management is to be accessible to and open with all relevant stakeholders all the time.
I've even made my room at the company quite transparent, with glass walls and all that . . . so that everyone can see what I am up to at any given moment. [Ok, one confession: I take occasional Sajha breaks during lunch time, while munching on sandwiches :-)]
I'm quite comfortable with this approach.
If I were you, I would NOT run after these "Indian embasy" rumors about Himalmedia. The company is NOT on anyone's payroll. Period.
I know this, because I go through the finances every other day.
Having worked for international development agencies before (where I did not have to even think about earning money from any competition in the marketplace), I can tell you that running a private company to raise reveneues from the market so that they exceed the costs is a PRIORITY I am focused on, day in and day out.
Thank you for supporting HM's publications.
OK, sandwiches, finished. Back to work. :-)

Hey Ashu, Good job there, outsmarting the Maoists jerks! That too when they have their own govt. I think it won't be long before the Maoists will be in what our Saints used to say, "पून: मुसिको भव: "! They are riding high without any basis, and their arrogance is pissing everyone. Come next election, and people will make them moosaa again. Well, take care of your safety. We need some people to fight the jerks when the rest seems to have capitulated.

Desert Rain,
I understand your concern on defaming Nepal in relation to fake currency. If it is happening we should stop it, not pretend that it is not happening, and let it go before a disaster occurs. Himal Media or NepaliTimes.com publishing the news on the fake currency is a great news, and now, it is the job of the government to solve it before a disaster occurs. The fake currency hurts not only Indians, but also Nepalis who get them as if a real note. I stand behind Himal Media Publications for their brave investigative work. Emotion should not drive us, and we should look for facts: principles, ethics, and moral should drive us, not the emotions. Emotion "Ek choti chance diu na ta Maoist lai" drove us, and Prachanda and his cronnies are now in power, and their vigilante and gundas are running country, and Ashu is one victim that we see and know, but there are millions of Nepalis who became victim of our emotion drivens election results.
Fake currency is not new in Nepali Politics. Girija Prasad Koirala also admitted participating this biz. Fake currency is one of the biggest crime in many countries, and GPK is walking free. Should not we be ashamed for it? I don't think that Maoists are clean in this regard, and they must be having some connection with Pakistani Embassy, and I still suspect Bam Dev Gautam as one dangerous man behind the fake currency scam in Nepal. If you investigate him in more detail, Bam Dev Gautam should somewhere participated in this scam.
Today, Maoists are invading each company and each organization, and spying on anyone who opposes their move. Unfortunately, we do have some Maoists here in Sajha.com, who directly or indirectly support Maoists. I still doubt that Himal Media can resist the Maoists Trade Union in long run if Maoists run the government for antoher 6 months or more, they will give up or close the organization. Who will stand behind them? Political leaders? Who are only interested in government positions? Civic Leaders -useful idiots-? Where are they now? Well, it will certainly have a upside down message to those who say that it is good time to invest in Nepal, because they will not be hurt by Maoist cadres. It clearly tells that they are ready to hurt. What Maoist leaders say is only on papers, but they do opposite in action, and it is a proof. Well, if you want to pay to Maoist cadres, go and invest in Nepal.
I will repeat a dialogue in a movie: When there is blood in the street, buy property, not the share on a biz. Though it is not a good one, but it is true. If you want to invest in Nepal, invest on real estate biz i.e. by ghaderi as much as you can. The profit can never be minus. I bet.

Looks like edit function doesn't work anymore.. Here's the edited version of my last post.
Welcome to New Nepal. New Nepal is no different, actually wosre, than Old Nepal. This is just a beginning, so, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
New Nepal's Upahaar to Nepali People:
YCL
Youthforce
Ashanti
Nepotism.. yes, you thought this only happened in Purano Satta... but this is happening openly in Naya Sattta..National Planning Commission, Nepal Tourism Board.. sabai tira afno manche.
YCL disappearing and Killing people, and denying any responsibility for it. Its the new Bhairavnath Battaliion, and all those who were screaming their throats off human rights activists are quiet!! No body says anything.
No more protests in/around the Maitighar Mandala. Democracy a la Nepal. Even the Purano Satta had allowed all those Human Rights or Demon Rights activists to protest there, now there can be no protests there.
Power cuts, adulterated fuel, gunda gardi....welcome to New Nepal. What really surprises me is that we Nepalis do not protests against power cuts, adulterated fuel, ashanti, gundagardi, corruption, nepotism etc, instead we want democracy.. and now when we have a defective democracy (if it can be said that) that is no different than, actually worse than what we had in the past, we all are quiet. Gajjab cha ba!
No wonder many Nepalis, educated or not, are opting to go abroad. Look at our newspapers, almost all have 50-70% go abroad, study abroad, work abroad advertisements.
ashu dai, I heard about the attack and now this burning and all that union jhagada. You take care and when you are free, let's meet for some coffee and guff suff.

Dear Ashu dai
I am very very sorry to hear about the himal patrika. Infact I just arrived in Nepal today and it is indeed the big news here in Nepal. I would not give a damn about the news if you are not the CEO of himal Media.
Reason/s
1.Several interview of K. mani Dixit who blindly supported Maoist during the "andolan". Media House should have never supported a single party or person over another. The way gave interviews, I really wanted to kill him.He quoted the King as Tyo Raja and Prachanda and babauram as a saviour.
Aaba ke bhayo? whare are prachanda and baburam ? arenot they helping dixit ji,really your patrika and a matter of fact lot of other journalist supported blindly and didnot look at the fact . Now aaba bhognu bahek kehi chaina. Sorry tara aafai le khaneko kahaldo ma dixit ji parnu bhayo
I also hope you will not work like dixit ji.
Pls correct me if I am wrong.

Pire,
Thank you for your note.
Outsmarting the radicals is ONLY a temporary move.
We are already being pressured -- in a rather out-of-the-law-fashion by certain (Maoist-led) Ministries to re-instate the two ex-staff members. We'll have to see how this extra-legal force plays out in days ahead.
I would rather that the two ex-staff went to court, and fought it out there, whatever the outcome might be.
But no, the pressure to this private company now comes from the Ministries to do this and that as per the Ministris' dictates and NOT as per the law. Such are these things in Nepal these days.
Iso Freak,
If you are around, give me a call or send me an email, and we'll chat. I try NOT to be disturbed too much about what's going on in Nepal. Life moves on; all bad things come to pass, and so too shall this bad series of radical Union-related happenings.
CEO & PresidentofNepal,
Many thanks for your comments.
Vname,
Thank you for your comments. As you can understand, it's not appropriate for me to publicly comment on an individual editor's past or present political views (regardless of whether I agree or disagree with those views).
But as someone who's completed a little more than a year on this job, I think that when the company is under attack, like it is now, all within the company must be united to put forth a response that is truthful, legally defensible and in the best interest of the company's long-term goals. In this regard, I am happy to report that all the editorial team members' support to the management has been important, crucial and total.
Thank you all for your comments, and words of support.

IF bro,
The Maoists are deviating, and deviating big time. I have always given them credit for social restructuring. I still think the rigid social structures in the rural areas took serious blows from Maoists. I support that. Maoists stood for change. I liked that. However, I was and I am disgusted with their devotion to violence. We have clearly seen how terrible UML and NC are. They never fail to prove otherwise. I don't know when they are going to learn how to lead the nation to prosperity. MJF, TMDP are busy cashing in peoples' sentiment.
Maoists, especially Prachanda group, appears to be power hungry. When you say naya satta is no better than purano satta, I think I can agree with you. It certainly appears so. Maoists are spending peoples' trust faster than they can replenish. With this pace, they soon will be bankrupt. Once they go belly up, new revolution will surface with a different name, more violence is certain, more attack on whatever infrastructrues we have is inevitable. We will enter the same loop of political chaos again. I hope Maoists, especially the leaders, realize this now.
I was not a big fan of Kings. I am not sorry for Gyanendra. He had two strong body guards (Deuba congress and UML) protecting him. He gambled. Don't know why he kicked the body guards out when he knew he was vulnerable. I thank him, however, for leaving the Gaddi quietly for whatever reason(s) he may have. When I talk about the kings, I want to express my respect to the leaders like Prithwi Narayan, or Bahadur Shah. They were far better than Prachanda or Baburam or Badal. King PN Shah was not having fun in the palace and ordering others to go out there and fight. He was right there in the battle field risking his life. We could not preserve what Bahadur Shah added for us. I am not saying PN Shah or Bahadur Shah were the only heros. Every one who fought with them for Nepal deserve standing ovation from all of us - Nepalis. If we care to be baise chaubise again, then heck with PN Shah, Bahadur Shah and those brave fighters who unified us.

I agree with Deep bro, I think we have to give some credits to the maobadi, they have been doing some things that are good for the country, however all gets negated with their violence. Some social reconstruction steps that are well criticized has to do with us Nepalese as well common lets be honest we love to use our power too. We love to cut corners if we have hookups and this has resulted in some laws that the maobadi has implemented which does not make sense to regular Nepalese like you and me but there are a lot of ppl who ain't like us.
As per my humble opinion, Maobadi has to and I mean has to revert their ways of violence. It ain't the answer to everything, and for the sake of God don't wipe out what makes Nepal, Nepal. We have the most honored and unique and a mixture of cultures and society. We need to cherish that. I know Maos don't want to honor king and God, but common get your head out of your @$$es that is what makes Nepal, Nepal. Changing names and taking out Statues will not help you. You cannot change history, Maos need to realize this.
Lastly I again would like to emphasize on the violence part. You need to stop it ASAP. Forget the idea about taking YCL to the Nepal Army. Press and freedom should be honored under all circumstances. Trust me you came to power by the people needing change and if they change their mind you will not even find those jungle that you had before to hide. It takes one wrong move to piss the people off but if for some reason it has a tricking effect you can kiss goodbye to your power to your guns and to you philosophy. One last comment for Mr. BabuRam. Dude you have a doctorate degree for the development of Nepal common use it for the development not to push your party's agenda. If your degree doesn't serve its purpose you are equla to the netas that don't have their SLC degree.
I hope this goes for a better thought process ...
Peace
