My friend filed for the green card about 3 years ago when he was in US. But, he had to go to Nepal (urgently) before final decision is made on his application. His status in US was already illegal for over 6-7 months at the time he left US.
Now, he got an email from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Servises(USCIS) to update his mailing address so that they could re-send their initial assessment about his application. (message copied and pasted below):
"Initial Review:
On January 9, 2010, the post office returned the notice we last sent
you on this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR
TO ADJUST STATUS as undeliverable. This may have serious effects on
processing this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update your
mailing address for this notice to be re-sent."
What is the likelihood this guy might have been granted the permanent residence status? If he got, how can he come to US and become PR? Can he provide his Nepal address for mailing purpose?
Thanks in advance.
