Preeti Kaur was born at Shanta Bhawan Hospital, Kathmandu. She did her schooling at Gyanodaya Bal Batika. In 2003, she participated at the 'Shikhar Music Beat Competition' along with her band 'Nibha' in which she was able to bag the 'Best Vocalist' award and the band, the title of 'Best Band Of The Year'. In 2004, she released her debut album 'Preeti' which did a decent job in bringing her talents to the forefront. At the '7th Image Music Awards' her song "Dheri Patak Jiwan Ma" got her the 'Best Female Pop Vocalist Award'. Its music vifdeo was also one of the nominees among the best music videos of 2004.
