Politically Novice observed: 1. The politics of Nepal is controlled by India. 2. The political leaders in Nepal are the pawns of external powers. They have no will and vision for the country. They act in the direction what the Indians want. 3. After making the king powerless- why the political parties need to protect him ? 4. Girija goes to India for blessings and listens to the Indian diplomates yet tells that Nepal soveirinity is in Danger - What the heck is that ? 5. Prachanda did the right thing (even though they had to take this action to keep their existance intact) !! Let republicanism prevail. 6. Nepal will be in tormoil for a while but surely will progress.

I think the old leaders ..esp Girija and his gang are scared of bringing 'republican' and proportional representation in the country. They know their existence would be in danger once they bring in republican and the proportional representation.( main agenda for 'New Nepal') He would rather stick to some form of 'Ceremonial king' and some form of indian inteference. That is best served by Girija's team

Looks like everyone's trying to be a political analyst without a shade of credibility in their reasonings. Politically novice and this fuggin Aalu jasto, I'll fry you in oil and eat you like french fries. Why, you ask? Because your ignorant rhetoric made me scoff so hard I friggin turned blue!! hahahaaa Hahaha This ignoramus, Politically Novice says that Prachanday did the right thing? Are you shittin me!! Damn, you're a novice and should've remained as one, fugger. Don't you know that the goddamn mothafugger, Prachanday knew that there was no way he could've ever won the elections as his earlier supporter base in the Terai / Western region of Nepal have already switched sides to support the Madhise movement instead. If the Terai movement had started only a year earlier to the Maoists being initiated into the government, these fuggin Maobaids would've still been hiding in the jungles as they would've known that there was no way they could've even thought about getting into the government and contesting the elections. BTW, We all know why these mothafuggers want a Republic: They muscled their way into the government and they plan to do the same with the elections once the King has been totally powerless using the farce called a Republic!! Analyzing what I've seen so far, the King was the only one capable of opposing these shit-heads...And as far as in terms of recent developments, Gyane has lost most of his authoritative powers, including physical property and Royal heirlooms to the state. The entire monarchy has become somewhat of a ceremonial title now. Why keep going after someone whoz already down and low and is not an immediate threat when there are more issues of concern: The drought that still has millions starving in Western nepal, the flood and hunderd thousands displaced, the Bhutanese Refugee issue, the overcrowding leading to lower living standards in the nation's capital, the corruption issue at the ministerial level / government adminstration offices and even the smallest things like the garbage disposal issue in Ktm that has contaminated entire blocks...Damn, the apalling stench has rendered even the strongest cologne useless!! The Maoists are just looking for viable excuses to postpone the elections so that in the meantime, they may start portraying a better image of themselves through propaganda (and indiscriminate use of the gun like they always have). They are and always will remain damn rebels and whats more, they're damn commies...The commie system worked nowhere else in the world successfully and they wanna experiment in Nepal. Hell, my Nepal ain't their fuggin test-tube baby! Goddamnit, to support these fuggers is to support losing Nepal completely to the dogs.

Samsara, Sir, This (me) not only is politically novice but also simpleton, fool, dunce and know-nothing. I am a shit head in politics. So I am wishing comments like your will make me complex, smart, quick learning and politically pro. Sir, your analytical power, politically sound knowledge, critical appreciations and enlightening wisdom has not helped the ailing country neither. Sir, you failed to point the ineptness of our PM Koirala. PN

Neither am I a fan of Girijababu but he is the LESSER of the 2 EVILS!! Prachanday is a fuggin Stalin wannabe. BTW, Gyane is out for the time being and he still (faintly) can come back to haunt the Maoists and they friggin know that. No wonder they want Nepal decalred a Republic. If this is done and the King is deemed to an ordinary citizen status, who will lead the opposition against the damn commies. They muscled their way into the cabinet and the SPA just watched them ransack their own house. What makes you think the commies won't do that again during elections?? And yeah damnit, GPK said that the decision to make the country a Republic has to be passed by the parliament and he alone is unable to take this decision. Hell, don't the damn Maoists know that? Anyone with elementary civics/law background would know that it is true. Why on earth are the Moaists resorting to step out of the government when they can contest this issue in the Parliament? The answer is simple, they know that they do NOT have the popular vote and they never will (they've a;ready lost a major Terai base of voters and leaders). The only viable option for them is to cause as much chaos as they can so that the government may buckle under the pressure. And If no one else can see this, then all I have to say is that it truly is a sad situation. BTW, Current Nepali politics can be viewed as a hindi soap opera. The SPA is a joint family, GPK is the head of the house, Gyane is his quiet, low-key wife and Prachanday is the bratty villianous girl who has come in between the marriage and wants everything her way (if things don't go her way, she threatens to dump him and she wants the wife's entire memory erased off the earth). Once the marriage is broken and things go her way, she gets access into the house and she goes on to break the entire joint family taking over the whole house...Damn, what a plot!! Soap operas can be educational, they say but never thought of it in terms of politics!

Maoists quit govt; announce protest movement (Update) The CPN (Maoist) has decided to quit the government as eight-party leaders failed to forge consensus on its demands. Maoist ministers submitted their resignation letters to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala as soon as the meeting of top leaders of four major ruling allies ended in a deadlock. The leaders had been engaged in hectic parleys from early morning today. All four Maoist ministers – Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Dev Gurung, Hisila Yami and Khadga Bishwokarma - were at Baluwatar when the top leaders' meeting was underway. They left Baluwatar at around 12:30 pm after announcing resignation. Leaders and intermediaries were engaged in bilateral and multilateral discussions since last couple of days in their attempt to convince the Maoist leaders not to announce departure from the coalition government. PM Koirala has rejected two key Maoist demands: announcement of republic before the polls and proportional representation-based election system. Meanwhile, the Maoists have announced nationwide protest movement from Tuesday. Addressing the mass meeting at the Open Air Theatre, Maoist second-in-command Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said his party had decided to quit the government as the parties failed to agree on 22 demands. "Our efforts to declare republic from the parliament has failed. Now we will declare republic from the streets. Therefore, we have decided to come in the midst of the people," said Dr. Bhattarai. He also said that the code of ethics and election schedule by the Election Commission was no longer acceptable to them. "We will struggle for the purpose of having real election not this hypocritical drama," he said. Dr. Bhattarai also warned 'foreigners' not to try to pressure or dictate Nepalis. "They should remember their own history and how they fought for their freedom from colonialism," he said. Making the schedule of protest programmes public, Dr. Bhattarai said Maoists were carrying out 'funeral procession of monarchy' throughout the country on September 18. As per their 'first phase' agitation schedule, they plan to hold door-to-door public awareness campaign between September 19 and 21. From September 22 till 29, they will intensify rallies and campaigns. And between September 29 and October 3, the Maoists have stated that they will 'expose' the corrupt people and those named as guilty in the report by Rayamajhi Commission. On September 30, the Maoists have vowed to gherao all the District Administration Offices across the country. They have also announced general strike from October 4 till 6. This strike coincides with EC's schedule whereby nominations of candidates will have to be filed on October 5. The street agitations, according to Bhattarai, will be peaceful while the People's Liberation Army will remain in cantonments. Saying that the eight-party unity is endangered, the Maoist leader however stated that the 12-point agreement had not ended yet. Maoist chairman Prachanda did not attend the mass meeting due to health problems. The Maoists had brought truckloads of party workers and school students at the mass meeting. Meanwhile, senior Maoist leader Dinanath Sharma told media that the Constituent Assembly election will not take place. Although he stopped short of saying that his party would boycott the November 22 election, he gave enough hints that the Maoists would try to foil the election plan terming it as a 'drama.' Sharma said that Maoists want to ensure real CA election by ushering in republic first. Sharma claimed that people were with his party. "Only the reactionaries and middle class people of urban areas have misunderstood us," he said. nepalnews.com mk/ia/sd Sep 18 07

Samsara Sir I thing I don't understand is everybody's agenda is Republic Nepal. Why the current parliament does not want to declare that ? Indian are telling Nepali Congress and CPN s not to do that ? If they have all the power to strip KG of all his powers why not to get rid of them as Moists have demanded ? If Prachanda and gang are successful in creating enough chaos in the streets of Kathmandu and throw stones at the ministers carcade - it is possible that the Republic Nepal will come to the scene. This stand of up Prachanda is equivalent to confronting India at this juncture to my novice mind.

Well, Maoists know that they can't win more than a few seats in the upcoming election. What a excuse to run away from the election. I had a feeling that they would make some excuses.

Novice you say: "I thing I don't understand is everybody's agenda is Republic Nepal." wtf?? Where did this come from?? This is what the fuggin Maobadis want, not ordinary citizens...Don't you know that?? We are all content with a ceremonial king with no powers aka United Kingdom/Sweden/Thailand/Denmark/Germany and whatever other nations out there. If developed nations like these have that, who are we to try and discard our history or culture?? If something needs to be discarded, its the damn commies. In its entire 100 year history, the commie system has brought about downfall of entire economies which were once bread baskets and had potential to become the industrial powerhouses (Russia, North Korea, Cuba). This system works well in theory but never has this been proven successful practically. You may say China but remember these fools aren't commies anymore. They've become Capitalists with a mask portraying commmunism. Look around, Every commie state's transitioning into a Capitalistic one whereas, we, who are already among the poorest in the world are trying to revive a system that will end up making us the poorest and that too for the next 100 years or more!!

Samsara Sir, Isn't the queen of UK, one of the most richest persons in the world ? Isn't the queen of Netherlands, queen Baetrix one of the richest persons in the world ? Don't Saudi King control the white gold ? Isn't sultan of Brunei worth 22 billion? King of Thailand, Bhumibol is worth 5 billion. These people have made thier fortune on their own by sweating their ass off? Yeah?? France got rid of the King... US has no king... At present context, if Nepal listens to Moists demand and get rid of the white elephants, would be more peaceful. It would at least demostrate that Nepal does bot bog down to foreign pressure and Girija will not have to whine that Nepal's soveirinity is in danger.

I totally agree with Samsara. Do hell with what Maoist want....They just want to rule the damn country and they don't give a damn if they'll have to use guns or knives..... Pure dadagiri.....Their tactic is "if you don't agree to what I say, I will protest without giving a damn how that would effect anyone else".....If everyone else starts adopting to Maoist tactics, then imagine how our country will be.... All others like King, Girija and other political figures also suck ass but at least they don't show guns to ordinary ppl and start killing 'em....F##K maoists...

Novice, Gyane may be rich but what about all the leaders who came in between and ate millions of development aid or the national budget expenses like I eat a plate of rice?? We were a nation doing well when we had only the king ripping us off. Now we have the SPA leaders (each one of them individually stealing and have made millions, GPK probably billions) and the newest looters on the block, the Maobadis. They're alleged to have stashed $400 million in Swiss accounts as per some Halshi Bash's account that has been widely circulated on the web and this will only continue until Prachanday and Baburam both cripple every friggin person in Nepal due to malnutrition. I don't want a North Korea for Nepal. BTW, Nepal is a nation that will be economically dependent as we JUST DON'T HAVE THE NECESSARY RESOURCES to function independently. If its India today, one we're under the commie tyrnanny, it'll be China pressuring us under its yoke!! To talk about Nepal's sovereignity is in itself a misnomer!

Who is the lesser of all evils? Gyane hands down. But since his mobility has been restricted by the commie infiltrated/influenced parliament, he is not a viable option anymore. GPK is a notch above Prachanday and he for the time being is the best option we currently have. BTW, let the elections take place and the new government could decide if a republic would best suit Nepal's national interest. And if this is a democracy, let the King contest the elections and see where he stands before we all shut the bugger down. BTW, the Maoists know they are going nowhere and are running with their tails under their azzes.
