I heard Baltimore won the soccer tournament.  I did not go to any of those games.  I did go to the basketball games tho.  DH from Phoenix won the whole thing.  Supposedly this is their 2nd year in a row winning.  Congrats to them.

There were a lot of very good bball teams.  I was quite impressed.  I was very intrigued by all the midgets these teams had playing point guard.  At least every team had 1!  Minnesota, NYNYC, DCAC, Bay Area (they even had midget twins!).  However, the award for Most Valuable Midget goes to the midget from Boston.  He was unbelievable.

The basketball games were competitive for the most part....Most teams were good...The local teams were horrible....the baltimore team lost to the dunkin hanumans by the score of 56-0.....How can you give up 56 points and not make one point in an entire game??!! As Bill Walton would say "THATS HORRIBLE."...

The point guard for boston was good I agree..lot of good midgets...most of the big guys were stiffs who couldnt play....anyways, our squad for Connecticut gonna take it next year.....book it!!! guaranteeeeeed!!

I heard the soccer teams were pretty good, but the venue was 45 minutes away so not sure how many spectators made the trip out there.

Back to bball, the other thing I was intrigued by besides the midgets was the BIG giant that played for DH.  I think his number was 32.  He wasn't dominant or anything (more like a sleeping Giant), but I just found it intriguing that there were all these midgets running around and then there was this one BIG giant.  Now all you need are some tigers and you have yourself a darn circus.  Midgets, Tigers, and Giants, oh my!!

Hey Levar...That giant from DH was slow and lazy...he needs to hone his skills and improve his speed...maybe if he envisioned the basketball as a donut his game would get better...Also, that tall guy from MMC who could dunk had very little skill...He needs to stick to high jump competitions and leave the basketball to the tru ballaz you heard!!!! Anyways, as I said Connecticut is on the comeup for sure....we competed against the DC team...they were really not even that good...we didnt have the size to match up with all them trees inside....but next year we are getting a few recruits from Boston, so stay tuned...we gonna shock the nation!!

how was the game of dallas players??? they have been losing since saurav left the team. i m sure the same repeating old faces were from dallas??? i heard that dallas team is a house team made of family members. i also heard that only relatives and family members can be a part of the team dallas.

i dunno how the ANA people decide who can participate in these games. the big guy from DH was born here in the US and has a white dad while his mother is nepali. so does that mean that americans can participate in the games as well since he is 100% american????

Actually, from what I heard, Dallas had some new players.  They played DH very well and almost came away with the win.

Yes, the giant is half Nepali and half white.  As long as you're half Nepali, then you can play in ANA from what I understand.  It doesn't matter where you were raised.

Soccer was very well received, 15 teams x 20 players each, over 300 participation. Some great teams, notably Baltimore Athletic, Toronto, NE, DC, NYNYC.  Baltimore Ath. was the least talented team of the 4 semi finalists but they they had lot of heart and killer instinct. They surprised lot of people.

In my opinion, it was one of the most interesting Bball game held in ANA. All the team who made it to the playoff were very good and in any given day one could beat other. None of the playoff team lost with big margin to the winners and the overall game was very competitive. This year surprise was MMC, Minnesota (almost won the game against DC, they lost in overtime by just 1 point), Boston and NYNYC (given their old ranks and being new comers). They all had a very good team!! Overall, the best team i thought was MMC. They really had good team chemistry but unfortunately, they lost to Boston in Quarterfinal. Veteran team like Dallas, DC, DH and SF, as usual were impressive. I hate to say, but the home teams (all 3), expect Virginia didn’t even knew how to play Bball. I wonder how they even thought they could compete with other team. Suggestion for them- please, don’t embrace yourself next time. At least try to recruit 1or 2 good player before you participate in such kind of events. It was really embracing to watch (1 home team couldn’t even score 1 basket in entire game, what a shame).

My best player awards goes to Sonam (NYNYC) and Bipin( Boston). These two were the star of the whole event. The only things they were lacking were height and looking at their age, they can grow inches, so all the ballers, watch out for these kids in coming years.

The New York teams were both very good.  NYNYC impressed me because they had 2 good midgets and some very tough inside players.  They are a team on the up and coming for sure.  However, the way they lost to Bay Area probably still leaves a sour taste in their mouths.

MMC was as good as advertised.  However, after beating Boston on the first day, they lost to them on the 2nd.  There was also a little scuffle in their 2nd game.  MMC had very good guard play and I agree, they seem like they've been playing together for years.

But I disagree with Peace1 that they were the best team in the tournament.  Really?  Last time I checked, DH beat the team (Boston) which beat them and they also went on to win the whole thing.  Don't forget about DCAC either.

Also, how can you not include Saurav from DH in the list of best players????  That guy has every trick shot in the book.  He made a lot of players look plain silly.

True.... Saurav got 3 mvps...but the way these guys (Sonam, Bipin) play is so damn tight...I mean they can dribble the ball between their legs so well...Its like Nepali AND1...We dont have a Hotsauce but we sure have some guys who deserve the name "gholbheda achaar"...Honestly, I could care less about who wins the tournament...DH is a good team, they won the past two times I think...but How many of their players do any tricks....Its all the same thing....passing, inside play, rebounding, layups.....so booorrrring...gimme some teams like Boston of NYNYC...yea they dont win championships...but they fill up seats....fans would much rather come to see a guy go behind his back and do a double spin reverse double clutch in the air and miss than to see uncontested layup after layup...

I agree with "outsidaz". There weren't many players who could pass, dribble and make shots like these 2 guys so that's why they were in my opinion, the best players for the whole tournament. Remember how ANA awards the MVP. They only consider the final game and who ever wins the final gets the MVP. If u were to consider the whole tournament MVP, then definitely Saurav doesn't deservers it. I don't mean to say he is not good but there were many players in each team who could play in that level. The reason DH won the tourney is because of their size and rebounding skill. But still, i give them credit because in the end its about winning game, no matter how u win. So, in Bball all it matters is height and little ball handling and shooting skill.  And I completely disagree with LV statement “Also, how can you not include Saurav from DH in the list of best players????  That guy has every trick shot in the book.  He made a lot of players look plain silly.”He made lot of basket but I fail to see him making any trick shots and him making lot of players look plain silly. The only moves he made the entire tourney was lay-up shoot and i don't consider it a trick shots. That’s just my opinion and feel free to disagree.

I agree...I didnt see him make any "trick shots" either...I know he has won 4 championships with Dallas and DH...and I think his team has been in finals the last 6 years...but thats just due to the size differential....I saw him actually make a couple of 3 pointers this time around...guess he is is improving a bit...he still has a long ways to go before he catches these other guys....I mean sure they havent won any championships but they can dribble the ball between their legs real fast...Also, whats with that one guy on DH with the baldie guy...every shot he takes is a hook shot...one time he was by himself on a fast break and let the defender catch up just so he could turn around and swish the hook shot right in his opponent's face...I tell you that guy is a poor sportsman...and to add insult to injury this jerk was mocking other teams by shooting his free throws one-handed!!!

Ok, you guys can have your midgets.  I'll take Saurav every time.  4 ANA Championships in 6 years and 3 MVPs?  Wake me up when those midgets have won even 1 ANA title.

Oh, and the statement that DH only wins b/c of their size??  Well, Outsidaz, you said the Giant from DH was "slow and lazy" and now you're saying they only win because of their size??  You can't have it both ways.

I can't believe we're having this conversation.  Trick shots over winning?????  That's why b-ball in this country is going to hell.....

IMO, the best players were Bipin (from Boston...met him in Mad City last wkend as he's currently playing the Tibetan tournament there.  Like me, that cat seems to be everywhere), Sonam (NYNYC...a collegiate player going to Rutgers from this Fall) and Rinzin (MMC, Nepal National player and as per one of the kale Refs after watching his skillz, "He got sum black in him").  They may be the best players where akin to the NBA the best players are the explosive first step guards like Kobe, Iverson, etc. but when it comes to winning a championship, its the fundamentals that count ala a Tim Duncan.  And that Duncan would defn be someone like Saurav.  Saurav is defn a very humble guy off court but when on it, he's a beast!  Opponents get flat-rolled over.  Not only that, DH has the best supporting cast too.

And for peeps complaining about the Shaq bodied tall guy in DH, quit being lil puzzies.  He's half Nepali and he should and needs to be allowed to play in the ANA.  This ain't Nepal where they have restrictions on Samten playing.  This Samten cat is half Tib and half white and does 360 jams, alleyhoops and has the hops of a grass-hopper...Just because he is half white, the NBA (Nepal Basketball Association) made rules barring him from playing in nepali tournaments but when there is a National competition, he is immediately called for practices.  Can you beleive that BS!!  Damn, he has lived in Nepal all his life and yet, banned!  Sometimes, our mentality that we Neps have disgust me to no avail.

Comin back to the ANA, I still believe that MMC was the most talented team this ANA but them losing to Boston was a huge disappointment (especailyl Boston paid Bipin $50 per game...unbelievable!!).  Maybe next year MMC would fare better.

Well ANA soccer has reached the different standard now. The team like DC who had former national star players such as Basanta Thapa, Dev Narayan Chaudahary and other 3-4 former U19 players still could not pass semi final. The semi game DC vs NYNYC was the biggest entertaining, with the biggest crowd in ANA history. I guess many people came to watch former national players....I was wondering how many more crowd would have if venue was close by the hotel.

Baltimore was lucky to win this years ANA cup, but hats off to NYNYC beating team like DC in semi and plus they have been in ANA finals for last five years.

Samsara speaks the truth.  Saurav is the best.  By the way, any list of best ANA players should also include Ritesh from DCAC.  That dude always comes up big in the big games.  He was also playing on one leg and almost led his team back to the title.  He kind of gets forgotton because everyone talks about all these midgets, but he is for real.
