Hi everyone,
I am graduating this Dec and I had wanted to invite my parents. They had ALL the supporting documents, government job for dad, bank balance, sister studying in college, property etc to establish ties back home and I had a good record in F-1 here too. But still their visa was rejected for no proper reason at all. So far this season I haven't heard any parents getting visa. Is this true? I think if US embassy doesn't want to give visas then they should put up a notice saying that they won't give to graduation attendees instead of wasting people's hard earned money. I am very sad coz I've been looking forward to this day all my life.
I am thinking about making only my mom apply again. Please share if you have had any experience from yourself and/or your relatives/friends this season. If they were able to get it, then it would be a great help to get some advice.
Thanks.

Back in 2009, my parents were rejected three times and couldn't attend my graduation ceremony. They were involving in business, more than enough bank balance, good grades, recommendations letters and so forth. Nothing helped to work out. I heard that counselor rejected visa without looking any documents but asked few family related questions.
Counselor : How many childrens you have and where are they?
Parents: They all are in USA.
Counselor: Sorry, can't provide visa at this time as your both sons are in USA and you won't come back.
In my experice, if you provide right information to the counselor, they reject the visa applicatoins. I just share my experience because these psychology major counselors try to read your face than doucments. Don't worry too much it is out of your hand. By the way, my parents are in USA based on family based immigration visa through my sibling.

Yah man, they didn't gave a visa to my father too last year when I had invited him for my graduation. He applied twice but he didn't got one. He is 65+ but still even on son's graduation, he didn't got visa. My mum had already a visa as she came a year before to see me so she had a visa but I felt so low when I can't have my father who brought me to that point on that graduation.
It reallly sucks !!!!

Thanks guys for all your replies. I'm sorry for all the graduate friends. F**king policies, just don't understand why?? So many of my friends parents came this May and this time probably none.
Please keep on posting with more updates and suggestions.

This might come across as insensitive but why do we have this sense of entitlement? I graduated and my parents deserve a visa!
That I kept my end of bargain by graduating and now you uncle Sam owe me one!
And I am pretty citizens of every third world nation says, American Embassy in my country sucks!

wit's end, people are not saying that their parents' deserve visa; they are frustrated because they are being rejected without any valid reason, multiple times. if you were on the same boat, you too would be throwing crap at US Embassy. so, stop your bs and get the hell outta here if you can't contribute anything.
sp123: haven't faced situation like yours yet, but i'll be on your shoes in a few months. situation is scary myaan, don't know what the hell is wrong with the Embassy. i'm teaching myself this - if they get visa, that'd be really nice as they'll get chance to see me graduate and see what's America like. if not, oh well...
re-applying might help, but as other's have pointed out, it's pretty random.
good luck!

@wits end, you are just like your name, your brain is on your a**. So stfu and get out.
@jantarei , thanks man. I think I'm gonna give it another shot and make her apply again, although I've lost all hope for it. Yeah it sucks big time coz graduation visas were like certain in the past and that's why I had already made so many plans here. Really wanted to see them here.

valid reasons? If there ever was a valid reason for granting visa, most of us wouldn't be here in the US. Jesus, talk about sense of entitlement. :o)

I would think as the Originator of this thread wanted,if you will let your mom apply herself she has a better chance than both parents. No logical reason though!

@yahooize: Can you clarify your question?
Did you mean the following:
Parents got 5 years USA VISA while applying for their son/daughter graduation ceremony. What if they want to come after 4 years ?

Almost all the visa for parents are rejected these days because in the past many parents came to US,over stayed and applied for asylum. This is the impression we have created and qualified candidates are denied.
They are aware of the fact now and almost all the visas are rejected. The parents above 65+ years are denied coz they fear they might apply for health benefits like Medicare.
These are my views and recently they denied my parents visa also.
