The International student advisor at Cameron University has given A SEVIS TERMINATION AND OUT OF STATUS letter to two of the current students stating that they were involved in offcampus job. Both of the students are in F-1 status . What are the options for these students to be in status again ? We entire Nepali students in Lawton, Oklahoma are waiting for your views and comments .

enigma , don't be silly. no university authorizes F1 without work P to work off campus. so if you want to make a list then list all the universities in the USA who can issue i-20 for foreign students... but i respect your enthusiasm to help brothers.. i think the best way to eleminate this suffering is to make aware younge Nepali kids in Nepal, before they come to usa in undergrad F1 visa about the hardship of student life in usa, no work, no money...let everyone know what working in gastations, in estes park and OC does not help putting through school and even if it does, it comes with severe pain and suffering.... cuz look at this man, our brothers are getting treated like thieves and what for , for working in menal jobs like McDonald's and for a paki guy.. don't you think they deserve better than all this B.S.. they're 19-20s and are students trying to pursue future for heavens shake.... whatever happend , happened...i know lots of brothers are vicitim of the b.s passed on my early students about the life in usa.. maybe it was easy back then.. i have heard them working even for govt services with their SS.. not anymore... the laws have gotten stricker and things aren't just simple enough as they were like 10 years ago.. so if you have friends or family who want to come for undergrad, better direct them to INdia for undergraduate pursue.. I wish all the best at the meeting. I hope god will show some path or make new paths for our brothers...please keep us updated...

dyamn you are being too smart ass for directing all nepalese to INDIA rather than findings solution. Why don't you fire your documents and get your ass back to nepal? No nepalese is dumb to follow your worthless statement of going to India rather than any western country. We find our life better washing plates here in USA than having government service in INDIA. ENIGMA is telling the reality. We should start today listing univerisities like this and post in some blogs or sajha so that no nepalese brother will have to suffer this pain 1. Cameron university. Lawton, OK 2...... keep on writting jayamtadi

Dyamn, When you are in a boat that is sinking because it has a hole, you talk about saving lives then and there. You don't talk about how to manufacture boats in the future that are hole-proof. You talk about this only after you get your ass to the shore. At this moment, we need to talk about helping those in Lawton, if we can. If we can't, let others (who can help) talk. Tuppi.

Right , i agree but what kinda help are these kids receiving here, nothing besides some emotional crap like , i'll pray for you, i wish you, and blah blah.. which have no gurantee that will help.. if they're to be deported, which i hope is not the case the only solution is to find us citizens to marry them.. so is there any us citizens in sajha who are willing to help?? for me brothers are brothers, in Lawton and the prospective new F1 students from Nepal who unknowingly falling for the same trap... I was hoping someone from Nepal is reading this and learing some lesson.. didn't mean to distract or redicule anyone. I can feel for the students in lawton. I was in student visa for 9 years myself and i know the pain... Shail: it's your choice if you wan to come here and wash dishes. It is definately worth it if you can offord to go to school by doing so, but if you wash dishes, can't offord to go to school, get out of status, spend years in usa living illegal and finally deported , tell me is it still worth it; rather than finishing your undergrad in India and coming for masters in usa with teaching assistanceship and research grant with promising future why do you want to put yourself and your family in suffering??? I know it means nothing but i will be praying for brothers in Lawton....

It is very sad to hear that our Nepali brothers/sisters are having tough time in oklahoma. I understand that it is almost impossible for most of us nepali to pay tuition and other bills without working off campus. This is reality. Most of us has done that and these guys got unlucky. The international advisor is also not very supportive/cooperative/forgiving. The best solution would be try to convince her that it will never happen again and you will only work on campus during your stay at that school. if you can solve this school from school, it will be lot easier for you all, other wise case might be too complicated and costs a lot of money too. It is good that you posted your situation here and everyone is trying to help you guys, but no concrete solution has come up until now. I still think it is lot easier frm school, if not try to go for immigration attorneys. Not many people might have gone through this, so we are not getting any solutions. try to figure out something. this is summer, so yu are not required to take classes at this time. you can focus on this issue. If your school can not do anything, ask them to at least let you guys transfer to different college. try to transfer to cheap college at this time. so, when your new college ask you abotu this off campus employment question, you can tell them that one of the reason why you transfer to cheaper college is because of quality education in low cost and you dont wanna involve in same off campus employment again. while this is not right time to say what dyamn posted, i actually agree with his view. these days, we see almost all nepali students want to go abroad because of country's deteriorating situation. everyone has dream and want to fulfill that dream. i also suggest to all new aspiring students to do some research before coming to usa. it is not easy. it is very good idea to come to usa if we get some kidn of scholorship or if we need to pay only 5-6 grands per year , which i believe we can earn during summer and working on campus. if we need to pay a lot of money, then it will be very difficult for us. we have seen many students who come here in good school and later transfer to cheap schools and htey dont know when they gonna graduate. some of you folks might have already experienced this situation. some students come here as an undergrad and spend a lot of time to get graduate while some of their friends back home rather chose to stay in nepal for undergrad and ocme hre for masters. at the end of the day, it is vry likely that those folks back home will be in better position after 4 yrs. it is lot easier in masters. even if you dont get assistantship, your struggle period will be only two years. think abou it. and dyamn, these days it is not even necessary to go to india for undergrad. there are enough schools in nepal wherer we can get good education in engineering, medicine, business, with US standard 4 years undergrad degree. I always discouraged people to come to usa as an undergrad if his/her background is not good enough to get scholorship and always encouraged to apply for masters program. I hope these guys will get out of this situation sooner than later.

shailendrus, like i mentioned in my posting, many of us has not gone through this, so its really hard to come up with suggestions. again, these guys should try to solve this situation from school convincing them it will not happen again during their stay at school. if they could not convince school authority, then request them to allow students to transfer to different schools where tuition fee is cheaper. if both the options does nt work, i guess there is no other way than to hire attorney. this is summer, so guys have sometime to think abotu this and get I 20 from other schools. Hope this case wil lbe solved soon favoring guys.

We went to the presidents at 1:00 clock . The secretary told us that actualy the meeting was supposed to be 11:00 AM. So we missed it. We requested for the appointment again. Than the secretary gave us 3:00 clock for the new time. The president only allowed 2 people to meet with her. So we sent our friends to talk. At first the scenery look a sort of confusing as we saw a College Police right near the president office. The president listened all things said by our friends. She said we were violating the federal law and it does not have any option. Our friends insisted that they were volunteering without money. The president than said our friends to give her a proof that our friends were not working for money. She said to come back at 4:00 clock wednesday with a proof that they were voluntering. After our friends left the president office, we saw other administrative cheifs going to President office for meeting including Vice president , Dean and other chiefs. We went to the Pakistani and asked for a letter that shows we were not paid any money. The pakistani just replied he has to think about it and tried to ignore us. We are still unsure what decisions will come tommorow at 4:00 clock. We would again like to give sincere thanks to all Sajha family for being with us at this moment.

By the looks of things, even the President is willing to "ignore" the whole issue and allow you guys to move on! That's a great thing. Surely, nobody would listen to an excuse such as working at a store as a volunteer but as we can see, the President is allowing the whole issue to slide down. So in my opinion, keep your fingers crossed and keep praying, the President seems to be on your side. The only thing needed is the letter so you might wanna talk to the Paki and describe the situation ( without forgetting to tell him that the President is looking for an excuse ). As far as the other stuffs are concerned, I urge you guys to make an excuse of transferring with the President in such a way that she feels that you guys are asking to transfer unwantingly. Tell her that in spite of all your hard works and grades ( hope you guys are all good students ), you aren't financially stable and unless the college is willing to offer more scholarships and grants, you will be forced to transfer! Good luck again!

IF HE DOES NOT GIVE YOU A FAVOR FILE A REPORT TO THE LABOR DEPARTMENT MENTIONING THAT " THIS PAKISTANI GUY LURED US TO WORK ON HIS BUSINESS FOR HIS PROOFIT EVEN THOUGH HE KNOWS THAT INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO WORK OFF-CAMPUS. PLUS HE IS EXPLOITING US BCOZ OF OUR WEAKNESS N HE IS NOT PAYING ANY EMPLOYEE TAX, BENEFITS N INSURANCE. PLUS FILE A REPORT CLAIMING MORE THAN A MILLION DOLLAR FOR PLAYING WITH OUR FUTURE". GUYS DONT WORRY WE CAN PUT THIS PAKI IN JAIL FOR HIS WHOLE LIFE IF HE DOE NOT GIVE US A FAVOR. LONG STORY SHORT, GOOD LUCK GUYS.

hi friends!!! What happened... happeded!!! Its the time to act.... not to discuss!! So I want to share some of my friends experiences. Some of my friends also faced problem in the last fall. However they were able to convience the University board. For this, first you need to convience the department. State your problems, and make promise that you won't work in future and that you have learnt the lesson and won't make such mistakes again. Then after the only things that university can do is they can issue the new I-20s. Because, as far as I know, once you are out of status, you need to have new I94. So my friends went to Mexico for few days. And they got new I94 from the port of entry there. And remember that this the toughest part. You may be asked by the officer in the port of entry about your past record. Tell them the truth, and make some excuses for the reason of working. They may not issue I94, if they are not convienced. Ok, this the only thing I can share with you guys. Hop this will work for you guys too......

Our friends are made out of status finally by the university administration . The administration yesterday had asked them for a letter from their employer Pakistani stating they were just volunteering. We tried to meet him yesterday and night and this morning. He never answered his phone nor was able to meet anywhere. At last , For making our friends in this condition is the Pakistani's fault. He is the only to make them out of status. Are there any more options we have gor them? The university today said they were unable to reconsider the decision as they do not have the letter stating the students just volunteer. We request all the Nepali brothers and sisters to give us suggestions at this moment. we are waiting for your comments

out of status does not mean the guys will be deported. the law says: a nonimmigrant who remains "out of status" for at least 180 days is deportable and will be unable to re-enter the United States for 3 years. is there any chance of reinstatement? the USCIS does grant reinstatement on a case by case basis. it all depends on the immigration inspector when you submit for reinstatement. i think the most important criteria for reinstatement is that you have to prove you are genuine students and will complete a degree. the worst cases scenario (in case of reinstatement) may be you might not be able to leave USA and come back (on F-1 visa). on this website - http://www.ice.gov/sevis/sevisfactsheet.htm it does say that "Non-immigrant students or exchange visitors who fall out of status for reasons beyond their control may be eligible to apply for a reinstatement of status. The student or exchange visitor must work with the school or program official to determine if reinstatement is an option." can you guys contact another school who will accept you and apply for reinstatement? this might be something to consider. maybe that houston school from a thread above.

lets go n sue this Paki for abusing labor and alluring you guys against the US laws. N Lets hire a lawyer and Sue him claiming more than million $$$$$$$ for harming you guys. There are many logical reasons that can make us win. Moreover, try hcc.edu. this is a community college in houston that might help you guys to reinstate your status take it easy guys God is with us to guide.

We are ahocked ,After all the efforts did not work to save our friends from deportation . The pakistani was out of contact for one day when the president just wanted the letter from the Pakhe stateing they just voluntered. We tried to call him, meet him , ad tried other options at that time. The President yesterday said she could not do anything coz it proved that they work and Pakhe had said earlier to VP that our friends were working for him. Its ridiculous that the university is not taking any action against Pakhe. What do all Sajha members think about the solution. Is that the only way to send them back to Nepal or they still have some more options????? Waiting for your comments once again

if out of status is the only option and deportation is the final destination, why don't you guys report to the USCIS with the adress and everything of that pakhe that he has been employing illegally the students and give him the punishment too, damn it. You can give those two friends' reference as a proof. Just curious hai. The pakhe will end up paying fee and he will have criminal report too. Don't leave that pakhe pious.
