Congratulations to Umeshji for his unfaltering work in blog journalism. This was one of the only sources of information for many Nepalis living outiside Nepal. It is however irresponsible of Nepalitimes to wrongly published his visitor information as "Shrestha's Merosansar site notched 67,000 visitors on a single day on 25 April." According to the webstats in the site, there were 37144 Page Views on April 25. How can 67,000 visitors view 37144 pages even if each of them visited one page? Umeshji should clear that misinformation up.

In merosansar site, Umeshji claims there were 37000 unique visitors too, but the statistics there shows there were 37144 page views. There is a huge difference between having 37000 unique visitors and page views.

Blogging is an opinion...not based on factual evidence... Nepali Media is either controlled by left wing or right wing..... there is no jorunalism in Nepal Most of them are armchair warriors....only opinions and thoughts no facts.... No one really knows what is truly happening in Nepal....

BINGO!!! King of Cambridge...couldn't have said it better myself. Being able to thoroughly articulate opinions based on what you perceive as the truth is vastly different from reporting NEWS for its face value.

Congratulations Umesh, Keep up the good work. On a general note, to be sure, most blogs are worthless. But some stand out. Umesh's blog -- agree or disagree with its contents -- surely stands out,and Umesh deserves wider recognition. Those who still think that blogs are, well, just blogs, here is some piece of news. 1. Academics are using blogs. One example: - http://magazine.uchicago.edu/0502/features/blogger.shtml 2. Blogging represents one way to "reinvent public media in a participatory culture". In fact, there's a conference going on in Cambridge, Mass about this - http://www.beyondbroadcast.net/blog/ 3. A Nobel Prize winner blogs together with a Federal Appeals Court Judge in Chicago. - http://www.becker-posner-blog.com/ I could go on, but themessage is clear. Blogging is here to stay and evolve. Umesh's kind of work is one small but vital step toward our collective better understanding of Nepal. Keep it up, Umesh et al. oohi ashu
