Does medical bill effects to the credit? My friend have due $45000 medical bill to the Parkland hospital, Texas. He applied for medicaid and hospital insuranse but they denied his application. He don't have any insurance. Now, he is paying $100 each month. What will happen if he stopped to pay?

yes, it does affect your credit if u do not pay. Its good that your friend is making monthly payment and 100$ each month is not big amount compared to $45000. If your friend stop making payment then all the bills will be send to third party(collection agency) and your friend will be liable to pay all the amount left in the limited amount of time unless there is some agreement between your friend and hospital. Health insurance is must in United States otherwise you will be in great trouble financially if you ever have to be admitted to hospital.

Call them and negotiate with them. Tell them you don’t have a job, or making very little money or you have big family to take care of, they might lower the payment from 100 to 60-70 or even 50. Good luck.

i have also heard that not paying medical bills doesnot affect crfedit history a lot......anybody has any experience?

 

It does affect your credit history. It will show in red when you or any organization check it online in any credit chek website. It also affects your chances of getting a professional job as some do check your credit history besides your background check before hiring you. My organization does.

i had the same problem dude .. i give damn to that .. completely ingnore that .. i got medical bill of about 27000 but i did not pay single penny .. now my credit is in good standing too .. so be sure that medical bill does not affect on your credit history and no one can file a law suit against you .. be cool dude !! want to know more ,, reply me
