People who already succeeded in getting canada PR, can you please answer it. If someone has MS from US but is in F2 status now, can s/he apply for PR in canada as a principal applicant? How much total it cost (on an average US $) to get PR in canada (all appliation cost and others), besides settlement cost. thanks

If you are applying from US, then you can apply for Canadian GC only after 1 year of stay in US. You can be in any visa status. You just need a degree and at least one year of experience (US or Nepal, doesn't matter), if you are applying as a principal applicant. If everything goes well, you will get the GC within one and half years. Actually it might take less than a year, but I am adding the time it takes in the preparation of paper work. Also I have few friends who got Canadian GC while remainig on F1 status. Applied during at the end of Master degree and they were on PT when got the GC. So go for it.... Go to this site: You will find EVERYTHING you need in this website. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html Medical Test will cost you arouond US$300/person. Check the application fee on the above website. good luck!

When they say "Obtained a one-year university degree at the bachelor’s level and completed at least 13 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies," do they mean an undergrad degree + 13 years? I'm a little confused as they emphasize the word AND. Could anyone please explain? Thanks,

Yes...If you have MS and is on Student Visa they will welcome you in Canada. They might still ask you to furnish your English language proficieny. Fee wise 350 (application fee per person, 285 Doctor certificate fee, 25 dollars for your police report via Local FBI office, 550 for landing fee so the total is 1205 Per person. If Iam not mistaken unless otherwise they have changed. Good Luck

If he has an uncle, then he does not need anything. His uncle can sponsor him under family based green card. I think he will get it within 5 or 6 months. His uncle can sponsor GC to only one relative (and his/her spouse, children) in his life time. Again check the website. Everything's there. Or go to this forum: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/index.php?PHPSESSID=f2231d4bfdb1a7c7eedcd67d0b1960d9&board=4.0
