Finally going to Nepal after 15 years. Leaving in couple weeks...Will be there for 40 days.. I was 19 when I first came here, wondering what has changed how it will be... anybody here with similar experience plz share..
Any suggestions on travel, and places to see??

For a week, you'll be in shock, you might have mixed feeling of depression and hopelessness. After a while, you'll like it. By the time, you start to like it there, you'll be preparing to head back, and once in US, you'll have another mixed feeling of depression and hopelessness which eventually goes away.

If you ever go to Kathmandu now, they've this Thali restaurants everywhere. I still miss it, when you are there, don't miss it, Enjoy their food. Feels like homemade :)

All of these suggestions and experiences are making me feel nostalgic. The sheer number of reply to this simple question in this thread shows how much people here miss their home/home country. All of us would like to return but there are many obligations and responsibilities that are stopping us from going home permanently.

I was in Kathmandu recently after a long break. The biggest change that you will notice is the people. 15 years ago the demographics used to be less diverse and now it is diverse to the extent it has changed the whole experience. You see a lot of madhesi and pahadi faces no offence to the madhesi and pahadi community. The place feels different and not the same. With time, even friends have changed their priorities to be more into earning and saving money. All in all it is always a fun experience and you realize how much you have missed by living in a foreign land.
