Pyaaronepal, i am really sorry to hear that. Depression takes away self esteem, which is the last thing you wanna lose. In my opinion, its the state of confusion, where you fully don't accept that you are sad and can't overcome/win sadness either. Confusion is always bad for body or mind. For example, if you trying to wake up at 6:am and alarm goes off and you turn the clock off to sleep 5 more minutes but you can't fully sleep because you have to be somewhere at 7:am and fear of it keeps waking you up every 30 seconds. That 5 minutes might make you a person without the energy the whole day because you confused your body and mind at the same time (which is worse) for 5 min. My point is, try to avoid confusion. try to fully accept that you are sad and then find out acturl reason why you are sad and say it to yourself that you should not be sad for that reason. For example, girl you like a lot doesn't care about you, 1. Accept the state: I am sad and frustrated and I feel like I am worthless. 2. Reason for the state: Girl didn't like me, I feel like nobody understands me or I can't be liked by anybody. 3. Accept that you shouldn't be in that state for that reason: Just watch I will find better looking girl than that, who understands me. I am better off without that selfish girl, she could have ruined my life...............This will work as first step to boost your motivation to do things like sharing your thoughts with friends, walking, working out...........etc
Try this it will definetely help you. Best of luck buddy..........

Thanx everyone for the kind suggestions.. It really meant a lot for me:). My study is the main thing which I really worry about. I cannot focus at all. I just started the university and I started to panic. I have my family back home... and Since I am the oldest son of my family My parents have a lot hope on me. I think too much... IDK. I have been watching myself for over a month or more and I noticed that I have been eating and sleeping a lot(not a good sign). Hopefully everything will be alright.

Okie so is it grades that is worrying you? Is this your first semester in US? are you undergrad or grad student? Are you research assistant or teaching assistant? I know i am asking you too much question, but i am only trying to help.
Let me tell yo one thing, it is actually very common whatever you are experiencing. We all go through these phases in life. You are putting too much pressure in yourself. Believe me brother you will be fine. It might be kind of cultural shock, homesickness and over the top expectation.
You said studies is bothering you. I wish you could be more specific. Is it a particular subject or is it overall? is it particular test that you bombed or a particular project where you think it is deadend.
I would not worry about eating and sleeping alot since you are young. But it is better to zoom in to the thing that is bothering you.
If this is ya first semester you still have lot of time in your hand until finals. So you should not worry. Just stay focus without worrying too much. If you worry about consequences too much it will really start to bother you. It will induce panic attacks.
Right now you are suffering from some form of anxiety. But don't let it overwhelm you. Also keep check on your caffeine intake.
During these period you will have heightened vigilance. As much as possible never go down with a thought that starts with "what if." Talking to friends and family will also help keeping this feeling away.

I get depressed often too, but then I think of all the other people in the world who live on less than a dollar a day. It makes me feel thankful for what I have and my depression goes away. Life isn't perfect and it never will be but then again it could have been a lot worse. Aafu sanga bhaeka kura haru ko maximum advantage lina khojne ho, try chai garnu parcha atleast.

WORK OUT & NO ALCOHOL AT ALL..This helps to reduce depression and all those negative feelings. Don't believe me? Try it.
Many think that Alcohol kills the sadness and helps to forget depression. But It is just opposite. Alcohol is stimulant for depression and it is a depressant agent in medical term. This is the reason why people sing/listen sad songs while having alcohol.
So stay away from alcohol, work out hard. It will help you to concentrate on specific topic like your study, work etc.
