Hi all, I have been working in the IT programming field for 10 years at the same company and making about 85K in salary and about 10K in bonus every year. Since I have been working for a long time, I get to pick my own hours and as long as the job gets done there is no problem. It is very leisurely and feels like a vacation. Chances of me being let go from this job is very slim.
The issue is that I'm getting a little bored to be honest because it's not that challenging, and right now there is a job available that is sort of interested in me. They are willing to pay upto 105K plus bonus. I am a very good fit for this job and they will give me the job in a heartbeat. But I am unsure what to do. Should I give up my leisurely job and take up the new job for the extra $20K? I will probably lose my flexibility a little but it will probably be little more challenging.
Any suggestion will be helpful.

I have been in same situation and I chose to stay put because when you're making at amount, you probably make about $10k more after tax. The flexibility you lose is not worth $10K. Maybe if it was about $50K more I would have made the move.

indemand,
You have 10+ years of experience and making just 85K? Don't you think you deserve more? It depends on location too but I still think 85K is little low for somebody with 10 years experience in IT.

you said you are bored and want some challenging, so if i were in your position i would take the new job for an additional $20 k.
But, personally, i like leisurely and 'vacation' type work like you said. $85+$10 is a lot for me, i dont think i can handle that much money. But, good to know that some sajha people are making 6 figure salary. well, i know there are some sajhahities who make 6 figure working for microsoft.:)
