guys , i understand it's getting difficult for gals with BN (nursing) from Nepal to get GREEN CARD ! I understand they are directly offered Green card instead of working visa. And i want to know what is the situation will be like in ,say, 1-2 years ! Any personal experience will be highly appreciated and what is the trend of nepali BN gals suceeding in the American License Test !! Please pour in your experiences and information.

I don't see Retrogression lifting in Couple of Years unless there is a major Overhaul in Immigration Policy.
The First Step for obtaining the RN License for Nurses who have education Credential from abroad is to Have their Credential Evaluation by agency such as CGFNS. Check for the Nursing Board what kind of Evaluation they accept. For eg; Texas Accepts CES(Full course by Course Evaluation) from CGFNS. Once Your CES report is prepared you apply to the State board of Nursing. You need to have Fingerpreint taken inorder to apply for Board. Once Board is Satisfied with the Information tat you have submitted to them they will Give go ahead to RN-NCLEX exam. Success Rate for NCLEX depeds upon the individual. Exam is Tough , i have seen people passing in the First attempt and also seen people faling multiple times..
Good luck

hello purana kagaz ...... what if a gal goes in USA , clears the license test and all that ? The retrogression now dates back to 22MAR05 for third category in employment section . This is where nurses belong i guess. what does this mean ? like one would have to wait 5-6 years long to get one's GREEN CARD application reviewed ?
Or, how about join MN program? Please , folks , relate ur personal experiences . sajha basi le sahayog garnu paryo !!

I have been watching this thread since couple weeks...really didn't feel to answer because I am assuming that somebody will answer it :D.
Okay, let me begin, First of all let me know. "US ma vayeko keto sanga bihe ko kura bare" Is he is gc/citizen or PhD student or where he belongs to. If he is gc/citizen holdrer than no worried ur sister can start her job soon after passing NCLEX-RN exam. If he is a PhD student or PhD holder then let's not worry again because he can file GC under extra ordinary category and ur sister will get chance to work anytime after they get GC.
Another, crucial thing is taking NCLEX-RN exam. Before you are eligible to appear in NCLEX-RN exam, you have to apply CGFNS ( refer www.cgfns.com). This process may b lengthy for some applicant or may b shortcut for other. In my case they sent me my CES report in 12 days after I apply. pretty fast huh...But make sure you keep eyes when u apply CGFNS. Put all the documennts and make the credit hours equivalent that meets the RN syllabus of US. Also mention that you have pursued Nursing degree in English medium. of course we study in english but sometimes...complication occurs ther and they ask for IELTS. If they ask IELTS than bad happens ther...bcoz it's really hard to score what they demand. They didn't ask IELTS for me but they ask IELTS for one of my batch mate and she struck ther...finally she gave up Nursing (bcoz she tried multiple time and she couldn't score what they have asking 4) now she is working as a Medical Assistant.....sad story :((
Okay, let's assume everything goes alrite! your sis got RN license but if she is not eligible to work then at this time she must take IELTS to apply for visa screening. and that is another story and I don't wanna cover this part. But keep in mind to apply for visa screening RN LICENSE and IETS score must needed on hand. and ther come retrogression and stufff....sucks
But, If your sister don't wanna do visa screening and want to go back to school (here i am assuming that your joiee sap don't have gc or he is not citizen and he is just H1 or like that) than she cannot start MN directly. You have mentioned BN (I am assuming she is not B. Sc Nursing) so she must go to school to enroll RN-BSN. Nepal ko BN le ekai choti MN (Nurse practioner school what they call here) join garna paudaina. To apply for school he has to change her status from dependent to F1. and I think now u can trace or direct your sister path from here. If you have any questions comments feel free to ask me.
All the best! and let us know how this story ends.

I am not aware of any nursing requirement, nor I know anyone who went through this procedure. But I feel like I need to give some input, I know about immigration stuff. I am just trying to correct some information floating around and may not be useful in your context.
1 St thing about above post, if the guy is GC holder, your sis. cant come to U.S immediately as his dependent. She might end up waiting 4/5 yrs to come to U.S. There is other way around like coming on student visa, or K visa. And these visa types have limitations.
2nd , if guy has phd or phd student doesn’t mean they can apply national interest waiver (NIW), and get G.C in a while. He need to be qualified and believe me it is not as straight as may people think. He need to convince U.S government that giving him G.C is in interest of U.S government. But probably, they will qualify for EB2 and get GC in few yrs.
3rd I personally don’t know any thing about licensing exams etc but some one mentioned above, that getting IELTS score is very tough , but I saw in website (http://www.cgfns.org/files/pdf/req/vs-requirements.pdf) that the requirement for RN is 207 for TOEFL, which is way too low then admission requirement of most of the U.S schools. So, getting that score might not be big deal. ( But I could have misinterpreted and may be wrong on this. Someone can correct me)
4th if you come as dependent of H1B, she don’t need to change her status just to go to school. She can join school as H4. But there are other stuff like GA, RA and instate tuition fees. But also H4 has limitations.
Finally, as per my experience career and Immigration in U.S is very complicated these days, but it might work for someone easily. So, basically it is case my case basis. Taking risk depends on many thing like passion, dream, kind of life u want to live, driving force for taking decision etc…etc….

What does this mean? Will it take 4-5 years long to get to work after that visa screening ? Please let me know. I will let u know u guys how all this ends ?Thank u again.

Ye thulosano bro,
Let me explain this in simpler words. "Nurse haru lai america ma aajkal ali garo cha. Green card pauna at least 4-5 years lagcha BUT remember it might change and may take longer. Tyo bhanda agadi NCLEX ko exam pass garera ani work permit cha bhane kaam garne ho (If her husband has Greencard or Citizenship, then she can work). otherwise she's stuck there and she will have to end up going back to college for BN here in US because BN from Nepal is not equivalent to BN here. ani tei ho padhyo basyo, life unsure..It is hard.
Hope that helps.
